1. 解詞釋義
Be Greek to sb. 字面意思是“對於某人來說都是希臘語”，引申爲某人“一竅不通”“完全不懂”的意思，相當於beyond one’s understanding。
這個短語源於出自其莎士比亞的名劇Julius Caesar。西塞羅要告訴他的朋友凱撒就要被殺死了，可當時凱撒在場。爲了保密，西塞羅就用希臘語對他的朋友講了這件事。參與這一謀殺計劃的吉亞斯卡曾經聽到過這一計劃。後來，對這一計劃表示關心但又不知具體內情的人就去問吉亞斯卡聽到了什麼。吉亞斯卡巧妙地回答："For my own part, it was Greek to me."，表示他完全不知道西塞羅說的是什麼。
