SQ3R will help you build a framework to understand your reading assignment.

SQ3R將幫助你搭建一個框架從而理解你的閱讀任務。

Before you read, Survey the chapter:

在你閱讀之前,瀏覽一下章節:

·the title, headings, and subheadings
瀏覽目錄,標題和副標題

·captions under pictures, charts, graphs or maps

瀏覽圖片,表格,圖表或地圖下的文字說明

·review questions or teacher-made study guides

回顧問題或老師制定的學習指南

·introductory and concluding paragraphs

注意開頭和結尾段落

·summary

進行總結

Question while you are surveying:

瀏覽時的問題:

·Turn the title, headings, and/or subheadings into questions

就題目,標題或副標題提問

·Read questions at the end of the chapters or after each subheading

閱讀每個章節或每個副標題後面提出的問題

·Ask yourself, "What did my instructor say about this chapter or subject when it was assigned?"

問自己,“老師佈置任務的時候對這個章節或主題都講了什麼內容?”

·Ask yourself, "What do I already know about this subject?"

問自己,“對這個主題我都知道些什麼?”

Note: If it is helpful to you, write out these questions for variation is called SQW3R.

注意:如果這對你有所幫助,試着把這些問題寫下來以供思考。這就演變成SQW3R法( Survey,Question,Write, Read,Recite,Review),即“瀏覽、發問、書寫、閱讀、複述、複習”。

When you begin to Read:

在你開始閱讀時:

·Look for answers to the questions you first raised

尋找你剛開始所提問題的答案

·Answer questions at the beginning or end of chapters or study guides

在章節開頭或章節末尾或學習指南處回答問題

·Reread captions under pictures, graphs, etc.

重讀圖片,圖表等下的文字說明

·Note all the underlined, italicized, bold printed words or phrases

對所有加下劃線,斜體和粗體的詞或短語作筆記

·study graphic aids

·Reduce your speed for difficult passages

讀到難理解的地方放慢速度

·Stop and reread parts which are not clear

讀到不理解的地方停下來重新閱讀

·Read only a section at a time and recite after each section

一次只讀一個小節,每小節之後進行背誦

Recite after you've read a section:

閱讀完一個小節之後進行復述:

·Orally ask yourself questions about what you have just read, or summarize, in your own words, what you read

口頭複述,對剛閱讀完的內容進行提問,或用自己的話進行總結

·Take notes from the text but write the information in your own words

對所讀文本做筆記,並用自己的語言將信息表達出來

·Underline or highlight important points you've just read

讀到重點地方用下劃線或高光進行標記

Day One
第一天

·After you have read and recited the entire chapter, write questions in the margins for those points you have highlighted or underlined.

閱讀整個章節並複述完之後,在空白處對下劃線和高光標記過的重點提些問題並寫下來。

·If you took notes while reciting, write questions for the notes you have taken in the left hand margins of your notebook.

如果你在複述的過程中作了筆記,在筆記本的左邊空白處就所作筆記寫幾個問題。

·Complete the form for a critical reading review.

完成批判性閱讀複習表格。

Day Two

第二天

·Page through the text and/or your notebook to re-acquaint yourself with the important points.

瀏覽文本或你的筆記本來重新熟悉文章重點。

·Cover the right hand column of your text/note-book and orally ask yourself the questions in the left hand margins.

口述文本或筆記本左邊的問題並在右邊空白處寫下你的答案。

·Orally recite or write the answers from memory.

根據記憶進行口頭複述或寫下你的答案。

·Develop mnemonic devices for material which need to be memorized.

針對需要進行記憶的材料想些特別的記憶方法。

·Make flash cards for those questions which give you difficulty.

對難理解的內容提些問題並製作成卡片。

Days Three, Four and Five

第三、四、五天

·Alternate between your flash cards and notes and test yourself(orally or in writing) on the questions you formulated.

根據所製作的問題卡片對自己進行測試(口頭或筆寫)。

·Make additional flash cards if necessary.

如有必要再製作額外的卡片。

Weekend

週末

·Using the text and notebook, make a Table of Contents - list all the topics and sub-topics you need to know from the chapter.

根據文本和筆記本製作一個目錄,把你需要了解的主題和子主題羅列出來。

·From the Table of Contents, make a study Sheet.

根據目錄製作一張學習表。

·Recite the information orally and in your own words as you put the study Sheet together.

學習表整合到一起後用自己的語言進行口頭複述,將信息表達出來。

·As you have consolidated all the information you need for this chapter, periodically review the Sheet/Map so that at test time you will not have to cram.

當你把這一章節的所有需要用到的信息都鞏固了以後並定期複習這張學習表,考試的時候你就無需死記硬背啦。
