Actually, I have a few paintings in my home. My girlfriend says it's beginning to look like an art gallery! I guess you could call me a bit of an art-aholic, though I'm certainly no connoisseur.

By far my favourite piece is a large oil painting on canvas that I picked up on my travels in Bali. I had to roll it up to get it back to China and once I got home I had a bespoke frame made for it. It depicts a tree or plant of some sort, using an array of colours, from deep blues to vivid yellows. The image is very simple, being formed from a number of different coloured dots.

At the moment it is the centerpiece of my living room, takes pride of place on the main wall behind my sofa. There are other pieces of art in there, including some small statues and figurines, but they are eclipsed by the large oil painting, which truly dominates the room. Every guest we have visit passes comment on it, often complimenting its vibrant colours or simple aesthetic beauty.

For me personally, it's a combination of all the things I have already mentioned. Plus, it reminds me of the places I have been and the things I have experienced on my trips abroad. The memories come flooding back every time l look at my picture. This is the primary reason I collect paintings and the reason I have more works of art than I do wall space!

1 這幅畫的來歷。(生日，朋友，含義，珍貴)————Well, this painting was given by one of my friends when I was about to graduate in university, he was a quite intimate friend to me, thus sending me this painting with some specific meanings based on his understanding of me. (這句語法較難)。這幅畫給人一種和平溫暖的感覺，不過畫裏is filled with sorrows, 覺得符合我的心情… / 送我畫的時候還寫了一些wishes/ 難忘的生日珍貴的朋友。

2 這幅畫的描述和給我的感覺。大小：it covers close to one third of my wall, therefore, it decorates my bedroom and enlighten the whole atmosphere of my room. 顏色，感覺： it was mainly in blue and other colors close to blue, that’s why it displays peace and sorrow . Sometimes I stare at it for long, I am absorbed in it(沉浸在裏面)and it changes my mood.

3 關於梵高。—— Actually I do cherish this painting also because of Van gogh, he’s one of my favourite artists. 印象派(the representative and an outstanding artist of impressionist)。悲慘的經歷，傑出的作品(miserable life yet remarkable achievement in art) 憂鬱，瘋狂，割耳，自殺(he suffered from deep depression and loneliness all his life, in the later years he was insane and kept in the mental hospital….順便說一下他還有其他的出色的作品：向日葵等。

<1> What are some examples of art?

1) common art forms比如音樂電影畫等，對我們的意義如放鬆，表達等;2) 其他less common的藝術，離普通人較遠的藝術如行爲藝術(action art); 雕塑等)

<2> What forms of visual art are popular in your country? 此題注意體現中國的特點。

1) 常見的包括包括影視、繪畫、雕塑、建築藝術、工藝品(handicraft);

2) 中國特有的包括：opera, calligraphy of brush, ink painting- 水墨畫，這些代表了中國的文化歷史)

<3> Are there any differences between the art in your country and the art in Western countries? 此題比較難

1) 寫實，more realistic in depiction; e.g. painting of landscape and people, 2)寫意，not that realistic, but intend to express more about the ideas in the painting; 內容關注社會，思考生命的意義，這是受歷史和儒道的影響。

<4> Are there many art exhibition in your country?

1)其實不多，只在發達城市較多。

2)給一些建議，覺得可以有更多的gallery，或者政府應更注重文化發展之類的。

Describe a picture or photograph in your family/a picture or photo you like most.

You should say:

What is in the picture

Where this picture is in your home

and explain why you think this picture is meaningful

思路解析：

首先可以介紹照片的內容、人物、拍攝地、以及拍攝照片的原因。

其次談談自己爲什麼喜歡這張照片，它有什麼獨特之處。

例如：這是的一張哭喪着臉的照片、這是第一張與家人的合照等等。

最後可以說說這張照片有什麼特別的意義，比如可以讓人回想起美好的童年時光。

There is a picture of my mother father and myself when I was a baby. We had been at the photo studio all day long and like every child I hated taking pictures. I was annoyed and there was no way the photographer was going to get me to smile. As a result, my mother and father were standing and I was sitting there pouting. It's just so cute!

I like it because it is unique. I use self-timer taking pictures and smile all the time although I am not photographic, but this is the only one I was pouting with silly face. Also, it was the first time I took a picture in a photo studio with my family, so it was a memorabilia experience for me and my family. Moreover, such an old picture can reminds me of the childhood happiness which is being a stupid kid doing whatever I want. Now, I have already hung this family picture in the dining room so I can see it all the time.

思路解析：

最喜歡的一張照片：我和家人的照片。

首先介紹照片的拍攝時間、地點和拍照人：2003年的夏天，拍攝於醫院(引出懸念，使人好奇爲什麼會在醫院拍照)

進一步做出解釋：父親得了鼻咽癌，並且是晚期，但與病魔堅決做鬥爭(with strong determination),最終奇蹟般康復了，因此全家在醫院拍照作爲留念。

最後，強調照片爲什麼特別：因爲每次看到照片就會想起父親說過，無論面對什麼困難挑戰，都要堅強面對。(昇華主題)

Sample answer：

Speaking of a photo，I would like to talk about a photograph of me and my family.

It was taken in a summer in 2003. The background of the photo is a radiological ward(放射病房). My parents and I was sitting on the bed and wearing a happy smile. The photo was taken by a ward nurse. You may be curious about why we choose to take a photo in a hospital.

I know, hospital is not supposed to be an ideal location for people to take photos. But this photo means a lot to our family. At that time，my father was diagnosed (診斷)with a severe disease nasopharyngeal carcinoma(鼻咽癌). It was a kind of cancer. What made me even fear was that the doctor said that was a terminal cancer. You can imagine how helpless and despairing (感到絕望的)I felt at that time. My mum and I was so desperate that we can not help weeping. But my father always had a positive attitudes and fight off(戰勝) the disease with strong determination. He believed that as long as a person has a positive faith，he or she will survive.

3 months later，my father restored(恢復) to health and created a miracle. On the date he left the hospital， he thought out of an idea that we should take a photo of the whole family in the ward.

It is definitely a special photo for me. Every time I picked up this photo， I will remember what my father said to me. He told that we should never give up no matter what difficulties or challenges we encounter. As long as we become strong， persistent(堅持不懈的) and perseverant, we can conquer any problems and end up succeeding.
