北大師生提議設校園自然保護小區
Peking University is reviewing a proposal to set up a mini nature reserve on the campus to protect the ecosystem.
北京大學正在就建立一座小型自然保護區以保護生態環境的提議進行復審。The proposal, brought forward by Peking University students and their teachers, first appeared on an official WeChat account, sparking heated debate at the university.
這一提議由北大的學生和老師最先在官方微信號上提出，在校內引發了熱議。The proposed 42.5 hectare mini nature reserve would be designed to protect the animals and plants that currently inhabit the campus.
提議中的校園自然保護小區面積爲42.5公頃，旨在保護目前棲息在北大校園內的動植物。
The proposal would ban the use of herbicides in the preserve, and also allow for dead foliage to compost naturally, rather than being removed.
該提議禁止在自然保護小區內使用除草劑，不清理落葉，讓其自然堆肥。
If approved, the mini reserve at Peking University would be the first of its kind in China.
如果提議得到通過，那麼北大的這個小型保護區將會成爲中國的第一個該類的保護區。Different from traditional nature reserves which would limit access, the Peking University proposal would emphasize the idea of a harmonious co-existence between humans and nature.
與傳統的自然保護區限制訪問不同，北大的這一提議着重強調了人類與自然和諧共存的理念。Research at the university for the past 15 years has determined there are 300 different species of animals and 470 different varieties of plants living on the campus, including endangered animals such as Golden Eagles, Ninox Scutulata and Otus Sunia.
過去15年在該校開展的研究發現，北大校園內共存活着300種不同動物和470種不同植物，其中包括金雕、褐鷹鴞、東方角鴞等瀕危動物。
