Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969) Turning to politics in 1952, Eisenhower proved to be a successful commander in that field also. After winning the Republican nomination for president he overwhelmingly defeated the Democratic candidate, Adlai E. Stevenson. home fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and ammunitions of wan and placed at our disposal, great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned, the free men of the world are marching together to victory
