　　高一英語語法知識點：定語名詞的複數問題

名詞作定語一般用單數，但也有以下例外。

1) 用複數作定語。

如：sports meeting 運動會

students reading-room 學生閱覽室

talks table 談判桌

the foreign languages department 外語系

2) man, woman, gentleman等作定語時，其單複數以所修飾的名詞的單複數而定。

如：men workers　　women teachers

gentlemen officials

3) 有些原有s結尾的名詞，作定語時，s保留。

如：goods train (貨車)

arms produce　武器生產

customs papers 海關文件

clothes brush衣刷

4) 數詞+名詞作定語時，這個名詞一般保留單數形式。

如：two-dozen eggs　兩打/(二十四個雞蛋)

a ten-mile walk 十里路

two-hundred trees 兩百棵樹

a five-year plan.　一個五年計劃

個別的有用複數作定語的，如： a seven-years child

感官動詞 see, watch, observe, notice, look at, hear, listen to, smell, taste, feel + do　 表示動作的完整性，真實性;+doing 表示動作的連續性，進行性

I saw him work in the garden yesterday.

昨天我看見他在花園裏幹活了。(強調"我看見了"這個事實)

I saw him working in the garden yesterday.(強調"我見他正幹活"這個動作)

昨天我見他正在花園裏幹活。

典型例題

1)They knew her very well. They had seen her ___ up from childhood.

A. grow　 B. grew　 C. was growing　 D. to grow

答案：A。因題意爲，他們看着她長大，因此強調的是成長的過程，而非正在長的動作，因此用see sb do sth 的句型。

2)The missing boy was last seen ___ near the river.

A. playing　 B. to be playing　　C. play　　D. to play

答案A. 本題強調其動作，正在河邊玩，應此用see sb. doing sth句型。

　　高一英語語法知識點：need doing結構用法

注意：當 need, want, require, worth(形容詞)後面接doing也可以表示被動，相當於to be done。

Your hair wants cutting.　你的頭髮該理了。

The floor requires washing. 地板需要衝洗。

The book is worth reading.　這本書值得一讀。

典型例題

The library needs___, but it'll have to wait until Sunday.

A. cleaning　 B. be cleaned　 C. clean　 D. being cleaned

答案A. need (實意) +n /to do，need (情態)+ do，當爲被動語態時，還可need + doing. 本題考最後一種用法，選A。如有to be clean 則也爲正確答案。
