fear的用法1：fear表示對某人或某事害怕,多指害怕已存在或即將到來的危險,並含有避開之義。其含義與be afraid (of/to- v )基本相同,但fear常用作書面語,而be afraid (of/to- v )爲日常用語。

fear的用法2：fear可用作及物動詞,也可用作不及物動詞。用作及物動詞時,其賓語可以是名詞、代詞、動名詞、動詞不定式、that從句。fear還可接以動詞不定式充當補足語的複合賓語。

fear的用法3：fear在需要搭用非謂語動詞時,用動名詞和不定式短語都可以,意思上差別不大,只是接動詞不定式多表示“不敢主動地去做某事”,而接動名詞多表示“對某動作的後果被動地害怕”,另外,接動詞不定式多表示“害怕要去做某事”,接動名詞時則表示“做某事時害怕”。
