考點一、suggest 作“表明、說明、暗示、指出”解，而且後面跟 that 從句作賓語時，賓語從句中的謂語動詞用陳述語氣。例如：

① He often came to the theater， but his attitude suggested he was not really interested in the play.

② Jane's pale face suggested that she was ill， and her parents suggested that she have a medical examination.

例②中第一個 suggested 作“表明、說明”解，所以其後的賓語從句的謂語動詞用陳述語氣;第二個suggested 的意思是“建議”，所以其後的賓語從句的謂語動詞用虛擬語氣，其中的 should 被省略了。

考點二、 suggest 作“建議”解，而且後面跟 that 從句作賓語時，賓語從句中的謂語動詞用虛擬語氣，即謂語動詞用“( should )動詞原形”。例如：

① Almost all his friends suggested that he visit Mr. Johnson at once.

② —— The experiment has failed!

---- I suggest you try again.

考點三、suggest 作“間接表明;建議;使想起”解時，後面可以跟名詞、代詞或動詞 -ing 形式作賓語。例如：

suggest 後面可以跟“ to sb to do sth ”結構。其中的介詞 to 不能省略。動詞不定式短語 to do sth作賓語補足語。例如：
