端午節（Dragon Boat Festival），爲每年農曆五月初五，起源於中國，是古代吳越地區崇拜龍圖騰的部族舉行圖騰祭祀的節日。在端午節那天，有以龍舟競渡形式舉行部落圖騰祭祀的習俗之說。

說到端午節，很多人第一時間就會想到詩人屈原。戰國時期的楚國詩人屈原在該日抱石跳汨羅江自盡，統治者爲樹立忠君愛國標籤將端午節作爲紀念屈原的節日。
