提到quiet的翻譯，讓我想到：
有時候，翻譯不需要用單詞的原意，可以用它的衍生義。
就比如這句：
Chow was a quiet and thoughtful man.
按照字面意思，翻譯成“周恩來是一個安靜的而且有想法的男人”，讀起來就很奇怪。
官方翻譯的版本是“周恩來舉止優雅、待人體貼”。
這是因爲quiet可以表示溫和的，恬靜的，不易激動的，thoughtful可以表示考慮周到的；體貼的，關心的。
考慮到主語的身份和語言的整體協調，這個翻譯就很合適貼切了。
