雅思寫作與託福寫作難度比較

一、相同點:

1、兩者都是客觀陳述既給信息,不要加入作者的主觀意圖。

雅思task1中要求 “Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.”與新託福integrated task中的“Summarize the points in the listening passage and explain how they relate to specific points in the reading passage.” 如出一轍。兩類習作都要求作者就題論題而不是借題發揮。

2、兩者都是在整場作文考試中佔小部分成績份額。

換句話說,兩者都是你取得好成績的必要但非充分條件。

3、兩者都相對簡單。

兩者都是可以在一定時間的訓練後模版化,從而即便你聽不懂、看不懂文中的信息,仍然是可以有所寫的。

4、兩者對於中國學生來所都有難度。

前者難在中國學生很少對數字進行獨立分析,後者難在中國學生的邊聽邊歸納的能力偏弱。

二、不同點:

1、兩者的呈現形式完全不同。

雅思task1的所有題目都呈現在試卷上,作者只要能看懂題甚至有時候連題目都沒太看懂就能進行寫作。與之呈鮮明對比的是,新託福integrated task的題目是以一段聽力lecture和閱讀paragraph的組合來出題的。如果作者想把聽力中的內容與閱讀中的內容建立有效的關係,那麼就必須聽懂至少是聽力中的要點部分,也就是說新託福的integrated task已不再是單純地考你的寫作能力,還考到了你的聽力。這對於中國學生來說恐怕是當頭一棒,本來寫作就是我們的薄弱項,再加入聽力那可是難上加難啊。

2、兩者的respond方式不同。

前者爲參照客觀信息客觀描述信息---多爲對數字、流程等客觀信息的描述,而後者則是參照主觀信息客觀描述兩種完全對立的觀點的聯繫。個人認爲,後者對於中國學生來說是比較容易提高的。因爲只要你能聽得懂記得下聽力中的3個主要觀點,並記住一兩個例子,那麼剩下的工作就是將閱讀中的信息paraphrase一下,與所聽內容relate 一下而已。

3、兩者的考查點不同。

雅思的task1 與生活更接近一些,我們經常在經濟類雜誌或者新聞中聽到模板。比如股市情況通報,產量信息公佈,政府正式的年終總結報告等。而後者則更像是兩個打對康抗賽的球隊,點點相對,時時相對,你需要的是看懂這場比賽,並以一箇中立者的身份總結這場比賽。雅思小作文的最高境界是讓考官看到作文就能在腦海中勾勒出曲線走勢、表格特點等,而新託福則更注重作者能用一篇習作讓讀者看到兩種觀點對抗。

4、兩者考查的細緻程度不同。

雅思 task1中更注重細節信息的描述,更注重通過數字做比較,而新託福的integrated task則需要用文字去對比。大家知道,在雅思第一部分中,數字+專用詞彙(比如表趨勢的詞彙、表順序的詞彙等)就可以搞定作文,但是後者則很少藉助固定的詞彙,也就是說隨意性更大一些。兩者考查點不同。

5、兩者的答題時間不同

雅思大小作文只要在60分鐘內完成即可,做題順序由考生自己來決定。通常情況下,老師都指導學生先保住大作文,後寫小作文。也就是說考生有主動權去做合理的取捨。但是新託福因爲是機考,所以考生很大程度上是computer-controlled, 包括時間進度考生也是受控於計算機的(20分鐘寫作時間)。

6、兩者評分的側重點不同

雅思小作文中有條理、重點突出、語法(比如時態)正確等爲評分依據而新託福中更關注的是信息的完整與否以及整篇文章的信息是否 well-organized.
