遵循一定的做題程序

考生拿到考卷的時候，首先關注的點就是應該怎麼做題目，做題的順序分別是什麼。在閱讀部分，特別是四級，35分鐘做四篇文章的時間相對緊張，有相當一部分是4+5或5+4的模式，即花4分鐘看文章，花5分鐘做題目。或者花5分鐘看文章，4分鐘做題目，這個相對不是特別合理。因爲在時間非常有限的情況下，我們需要非常有效率地看文章，要帶有目的性。

建議考生拿到考卷時先看題目，再看問題。可採用1+4+4的模式，即用1分鐘時間把後面的題目看一下，瞭解到是考什麼方向，考詞彙，還是考推理，還是考細節。做了這樣一個分析以後，考生在看文章的時候就會非常有目的性，閱讀的任務也會非常明確。所以建議大家先看後面的題幹。需要注意的是，看題幹即可，後面這四個選項就不用看了，因爲四個選項各自有迷惑性，看多了反而會影響思維。在看完題幹之後， 就可以用大致4分鐘時間把文章看一下，再用4-5分鐘時間把後面的題目做完。只要你第1分鐘是有效的，看文章之後，就會非常有方向感。如果看文章是有方向感的，後面做題目，當然也非常有效率。

找準信號詞“一目十行”

提醒考生，在文章的瀏覽(即略讀，skimming)過程中，對文中信息重要性的判斷可以幫助考生快速有效地瞭解段落的大意。在瀏覽過程中，考生可以通過尋找“信號詞”來區分重要信息和非重要信息。

下列是閱讀過程中幾類常見的“信號詞”：

提示下文所涉及的重要信息： The main/important point/conclusion/reason… The point to note here… ;

提示下文的結構框架： There are three major reasons… ;

but和however表示對比，常常用來提示重要信息，例如：The rising birth rate is not due to increased fertility, but to a sharp decline in the death rate.

在文中提問可以突出問題後的答案，提示考生答案中有重要信息，例如：Why is a piped water supply so important? Disease due to contaminated water is a common cause of death in childhood.

有時，爲了保證讀者完全理解自己的觀點，作者會在文中反覆提出自己的觀點，例如：Death control can be achieved autonomously. In other words, the death rate can be cut without anything else changing.

文章的結論通常是非常重要的，因此，考生要在文中尋找提示結論的“信號詞”，例如：Therefore the result…, In conclusion, we can conclude…, One of the primary conclusions…

舉例是爲了幫助讀者理解某一個觀點，因此，文中的例子並不是瀏覽文章時的重要信息。在閱讀過程中，以下詞組提示讀者下文僅僅是舉例部分信息。For example/instance like…,Such as these include…

在段落瀏覽時，考生在看到“信號詞”後，應不斷對下文信息做出相應的判斷，比如：The main reason for(提示：下文信息重要)there duction in the death rate in the developing world has been improved public health measures. For example,(提示：下文信息不重要，僅僅是爲了用來證明前面的觀點)in SriLanka the death rate was halved over ten years by spraying the mosquitoes which carry malaria. Why (提示：問題的答案中有考生應關注的重點)is it so easy to cut the death rate in this way and yet so hard to reduce the birth rate? One answer(提示：這只是衆多答案中的一種，並不是最重要的)is that public health measures can be very cheap.
