首先，我們要明白什麼是名詞化?
名詞化即把非名詞變成名詞的過程。適用於這種過程的非名詞有名詞和形容詞。比如discuss變爲discussion，difficult變爲difficulty，分別就是名詞和形容詞的名詞化。
爲什麼要在寫作中多去使用名詞呢?這是由雅思的評分標準決定的。在官方評分指南上對達到7分的作文有這樣一項描述" some awareness of style"即對文體有一定認識。
一般英語文體有三個層次：informal writing, formal writing, and academic writing。雅思寫作對文體的要求大致介於formal writing和academic writing之間，這兩類文體都表達嚴謹、單據信息量大，使用較多的抽象名詞。所以，學生在考試中如何可以有意識的選擇一些名詞化的表達，就可以幫助我們儘可能的達到上述要求。那麼我們該如何將句子做名詞化改寫呢?

Sb. + V.到sb's VN.
Sth is Adj. 到AdjN. of Sth.
如以下例句：
1.I want to realise my dreams and this comes first.
realise my dreams是典型的動賓結構，這裏可以做名詞化處理，變爲the realisation of my dreams. 整個句子因此變成：
The realisation of my dreams comes first.
符合上面提到的單句信息量更大這一特點，同時以動名詞做主語，也給人更加客觀的感覺。
contributes to the company. This impresses the manager.
主語加謂語部分He contributes經名詞化變爲his contribution，因而整個句子升級成爲：
His contribution to the company impresses the manager.
policy is fully justified. Some people agree with that.
同樣利用前面的公式，the policy is justified這樣的sb. + is + adj. 被變爲一個名詞性短語：the justification of the policy。該名詞性短語可做句子的賓語，替代that，整句變爲：
Some people agree with the justification of the policy.
由上面可見，名詞化的表達並不十分複雜。名詞化常常可用於雅思考試大作文開頭段對背景信息和雙方觀點的引入部分，和小作文對趨勢的描述部分。當然，在使用名詞化對文章進行升級時，也要儘量避免濫用和錯用。
