Pearl Sydenstricker Buck (June 26, 1892 — March 6, 1973) also known by her Chinese name Sai Zhenzhu, was an American writer who spent most of her time until 1934 in China. Her novel The Good Earth was the best-selling fiction book in the U.S. in 1931 and 1932, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. In 1938, she became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, "for her rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China and for her biographical masterpieces."
美國傳奇女作家賽珍珠（Peal Buck），1934年的大部分時間待在中國，她的經歷和作品都跟中國有着很特殊的情誼。她取材自中國的小說《大地》（The Good Earth）在1931年和1932年成爲美國最暢銷小說，1932年獲得普利策小說獎；1938年賽珍珠因“對中國農民生活豐富真實的史詩般的描述，以及在傳記方面的傑作”而被授予該年度的諾貝爾文學獎，她也是第一位獲得諾貝爾獎的美國女作家。
賽珍珠其人：
中國四大名著之一的《水滸傳》最精確的英譯本 All men are brothers 出自她的筆下，譯爲四海之內皆兄弟；
她是唯一同時獲得普利策獎（the Pulitzer Prize） 和諾貝爾獎（the Nobel Prize）的女作家；
她曾在金陵大學教授英國文學（English literature），並曾執教南京大學英語系；
她是第一位讓人在西方文學中聽到亞洲聲音的作家（she had portrayed the Chinese peasants "with such love, affection and humanity"）。
