A new standard on student appearance by a vocational school in Hangzhou City of Zhejiang Province has sparked heated debate on the Internet for being too specific and too strict.

浙江省杭州市一所職業技術學校對學生們發佈了一項新標準，引發了網民們的激烈討論，有人表示規定太過具體，太過嚴格。

The Second Secondary Vocational School in Hangzhou"s Xiaoshan District released the new standards on Oct. 17, requiring that students should be neatly dressed, banning hair perms and dyeing, makeup and jewelry.

杭州市蕭山區第二中等職業學校在10月17號發佈了一項新標準，要求學生們穿戴整潔，禁止學生們燙髮、染髮、化妝和佩戴首飾。

Some of the rules are extremely specific, requiring staff to "check whether a student wears lipstick, lip gloss or anything that could change the original color of lips, check whether a student perms or dyes his/her hair, and if the suspected violator claims his/her hair is naturally wavy, some factual evidence should be presented."

有一些規定則非常具體，要求工作人員“檢查學生們是否塗口紅、脣彩或任何改變嘴脣原本顏色的東西，檢查學生們是否有燙髮或染髮的行爲，如果違規者堅稱自己的頭髮是自然捲，應提交相關的事實依據。”

The new standards have become a hot topic since posted on the Internet by a student.

在一位學生將此規定發佈在網上之後，這個規定就成了熱門話題。

Some in the online community called it "the strictest inspection standard in history" and argued that the school should be open to diversity in individual character, while others said they support the rules.

一些網上社區稱之爲“史上最嚴格的檢驗標準”，並認爲學校應該抱着開放的心態，包容個性的多樣性，而另一些人則表示自己支持這些規定。

Lu Jinbao, vice-principle of the vocational school, confirmed the authenticity of the rules.

該職業技術學院的副校長陸金寶證實了規定的真實性。

He explained that there are more than 2,600 students, more than half of them girls, and the school values moral education and advocates strict management of student behavior.

他解釋稱，學校裏有2600多名學生，超過一半的都是女生，學校非常重視學生們的道德教育，提倡嚴格管理學生們的行爲舉止。
