Hot chocolate/cocoa

熱巧克力/熱可可

Many of us are used to eating chocolate, but few know that the treat was originally enjoyed as a drink. It is believed that hot cocoa was created by the Maya some 2,000 years ago before being introduced to the world at large and undergoing various changes. It’s an especially tasty drink to have when you’re hanging out in the outdoors or participating in winter sports like skating and skiing.

很多人都吃過巧克力,卻鮮有人知道它最初被當做飲料享用。人們認爲熱可可是兩千年前瑪雅人發明的,隨後傳入世界各地,經歷了各種各樣的變化。出門在外,參加滑雪、滑冰等冬季運動時,熱可可最是可口。

Ingredients: cocoa/chocolate powder, marshmallows (optional), sugar, milk powder

原料:可可/巧克力粉,棉花糖(可選),糖,奶粉

Directions:

製作方法:

1. Combine the cocoa/chocolate powder, with some water, and sugar.

1. 用水將可可/巧克力粉衝開,加糖;

1. Cook them over medium heat.

2. 中火加熱;

3. Add milk and heat it, but avoid boiling.

3. 加入牛奶繼續加熱,注意不要沸騰;

4. Serve it up. Pour it in a mug or cup.

4. 起鍋,將其倒入杯中(馬克杯或茶杯皆可);

5. Top it with marshmallows if you like.

5. 可根據個人喜好撒上棉花糖。

Hot ginger tea

熱薑茶

With a spicy and invigorating flavor, ginger tea is not merely a drink, it can also be used to remedy indigestion, nausea and symptoms related to having a cold. After a semester’s hard work, it’s wise to relax and nourish your body.

味道辛辣提神的薑茶不僅可做飲料,還能緩解消化不良、噁心以及感冒症狀。辛苦忙碌了一整個學期,適度的放鬆與保養身體纔是明智之舉。

Ingredients: water, fresh ginger root, dates, honey, brown sugar or lemon slices (optional)

原料:水,鮮姜,大棗,蜂蜜,紅糖或檸檬片(可選)

Directions:

製作方法:

1. Cut ginger root into thin slices.

1. 姜切成薄片;

2. Add the ginger, dates, and brown sugar (optional), in the boiling water and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

2. 待水沸騰後,加入薑片、大棗、紅糖(可選),小火煨15-20分鐘;

3. Strain the tea. Add honey and lemon.

3. 濾出湯汁,加入蜂蜜或檸檬片。

Pear soup with tremella fuciformis

銀耳雪梨湯

As a traditional Chinese soup, it is beneficial to drink in winter, especially in smoggy weather. The tremella fuciformis is a fungus that is good for the lungs and that relieves coughing. When the pear is simmered for a long time, the soup turns thick and refreshing. The soup can nourish your skin and helps to expel toxins as well.

作爲中國的傳統飲品,銀耳雪梨湯堪稱冬日佳飲,尤其適合在霧霾天飲用。銀耳是一種菌類,具有清肺止咳的功效。而梨在長時間煨燉之後,湯汁濃稠、口感清爽提神。此外,雪梨銀耳湯還有排毒養顏的功效。

Ingredients: Pear, tremella fuciformis, wolfberry, rock sugar

原料:梨、銀耳、枸杞、冰糖

Directions:

製作方法:

1. Put the fungus in water for two hours.

1. 用水浸泡銀耳兩小時左右;

2. Tear it up into small pieces. Throw the yellow part away.

2. 將銀耳撕成小片,除去黃色部分;

3. Wash the pear and cut it into small fragments.

3. 將梨洗淨,切成小塊;

4. Put all the ingredients and water in a pot.

4. 將所有原料下鍋,加水。

5. Boil the mixture, and then keep boiling it on low heat for one hour.

5. 加熱至沸騰,轉小火燉煮一小時。

Mulled wine

熱紅酒

A sweetened, spiced European drink, mulled wine is best served around the holiday season, especially during Christmas. The fragrant smell of mulling spices will bring a warm holiday atmosphere to your home instantly. It’s recognized as one of the best drinks to serve to guests.

熱紅酒是一種加糖和香料的歐洲飲品,也是假日季(尤其是聖誕節)的最佳選擇。香料加熱後的香氣能瞬間給你的家中帶來假日氣息。它也是招待客人的最佳飲品之一。

Ingredients: red wine, whole spices like cinnamon, star anise and cloves, lemon, honey or brown sugar

Directions:

製作方法:

1. Mix the ingredients in a large saucepan.

1. 將所有原料放入長柄燉鍋中;

2. Warm on a low to medium heat (avoid boiling) and stir to dissolve the honey or sugar.

2. 用小火至中火加熱(注意不要煮沸),攪拌令蜂蜜或紅糖溶解。

3. Wait until the wine is steaming.

3. 待紅酒冒熱氣即可。
