音樂中的李雲迪 The Inventory: Yundi Li

In 2000, Yundi Li, then 18, was the youngest-ever winner of the Gold Medal at the International Chopin Competition, and also the medal’s first Chinese winner. It was the first time in 15 years that any competitor had been judged worthy of the top award. Now 33, he recently had 11 albums in the Chinese classical music chart’s top 15.

2000年，年僅18歲的李雲迪成爲有史以來最年輕的肖邦國際鋼琴比賽(International Chopin Competition)金獎得主，也成爲第一個獲得這項殊榮的中國人，而且是時隔15年後首次有參賽者被判定有資格獲得這項比賽的最高獎。現年33歲的李雲迪最近有11張專輯入圍中國古典音樂排行榜前15名。

What was your childhood or earliest ambition?

你童年或者最初的志向是什麼？

To be a pianist. I wrote this in my diary when I was at primary school.

當一個鋼琴家。我在上小學的時候把這寫在我的日記裏。

Public school or state school? University or straight into work?

你讀的是私立學校還是公立學校？上了大學還是直接工作？

Like most Chinese kids in the 1990s, I went to an ordinary public [state-run] school. Later, to pursue further study of piano, I entered an art school. After I won the Chopin Competition, I went to Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. I have many valuable memories of my youth.

像上世紀90年代的多數中國孩子一樣，我上的是一所普通的公立小學。之後，爲了進一步學習鋼琴，我進入了一所藝術中學。在肖邦國際鋼琴比賽中獲勝後，我就讀了漢諾威音樂和戲劇學院(Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media)。我的青少年時期留下很多珍貴的回憶。

Who was or still is your mentor?

你的導師是誰？

I’m grateful to all the teachers who have mentored me during my studies. I would not be where I am today without them, not just those who enlightened my interest in music, or Mr Dan who accompanied me to the Chopin Competition. I still keep in close touch with my teachers, and this Chinese new year I visited Mr Dan. Talking of those who had deeply influenced me, the one I must mention is Chopin. Though there’s 200 years between us, I can still feel him from his music.

我要感謝所有在我學習過程中指導過我的老師們。沒有他們就沒有今天的我，不僅是那些啓蒙我對音樂興趣的老師，也不僅是當年陪伴我參加肖邦國際鋼琴比賽的但昭義先生。我依然和我的老師們保持着密切聯繫，今年春節我還給但老師拜了年。說到深深影響過我的人，有一個我不得不提的人，那就是肖邦。儘管我們之間相隔200年，我依然能從他的音樂中感受到他。

How physically fit are you?

你的身體健康狀況怎麼樣？

I love jogging to keep fit.

我喜歡通過慢跑來健身。

Ambition or talent: which matters more to success?

志向和天資：哪個對成功更重要？

In my opinion, ambition and talent are of the same importance. Meanwhile, besides ambition and talent, keeping concentrated on what you’re doing is indispensable.

在我看來，志向和天資同等重要。同時，在這兩項之外，對你正在做的事情保持專注也必不可少。

Have you ever taken an IQ test?

你有沒有接受過智商測試？

I had an eye test when I was at school.

我在學校的時候測過視力。

Do you have more than one home?

你有不止一個住處嗎？

I was born in Chongqing, and I still have many relatives there. Then I moved to Shenzhen for further study with my parents. Now I live in Beijing with my family, so yes.

我出生在重慶，現在依然有很多親戚在那兒。後來爲了進一步學習，我和父母搬到深圳。現在我和家人住在北京，所以答案是肯定的。

What would you like to own that you don’t currently possess?

什麼是你現在沒有、但又想擁有的？

The Anywhere Door from the Doraemon cartoon [which transports those who walk through it anywhere they would like to go] because I always travel a lot to give performances and it’s really tiring. It would be much easier if I had an Anywhere Door.

動畫片《哆啦A夢》(Doraemon)中的任意門（通過這扇門能把你傳送到任何想去的地方），因爲我總是四處旅行演出，這真的令人疲倦。如果我有任意門就輕鬆多了。

What’s your biggest extravagance?

你最大的奢侈是什麼？

Music! I love to collect original manuscripts.

音樂！我喜歡收集手稿。

In what place are you happiest?

你在哪裏最開心？

Home is where I feel happiest.

我在家裏最開心。

What ambitions do you still have?

你現在還有什麼抱負？

To play all of Chopin’s works in my lifetime.

在我有生之年演奏肖邦所有的作品。

What drives you on?

是什麼在驅使你前進？

My pursuit and love for music.

我對音樂的追求和熱愛。

What is the greatest achievement of your life so far?

迄今爲止，你人生中最重要的成就是什麼？

To have become a role model for millions of kids who learn piano.

成爲數百萬學習鋼琴的孩子的榜樣。

What has been your greatest disappointment?

最讓你失望的是什麼？

I don’t have enough time with my family.

我沒有足夠的時間陪伴我的家人。

If your 20-year-old self could see you now, what would he think?

如果20歲的你能夠看到現在的你，他會怎麼想？

The 20-year-old me might want to know what I have achieved in music. I would be happy to tell him that I came to the Chopin Competition again, 10 years later, not as the youngest winner but as the youngest judge.

20歲的我也許會想知道我在音樂上取得了什麼成就。我會很高興的告訴他，我在10年後再次來到肖邦鋼琴比賽，不是作爲最年輕的獲勝者，而是作爲最年輕的評委。

If you lost everything tomorrow, what would you do?

如果你在明天失去了一切，你會做什麼？

I wouldn’t be worried. If I can still play the piano, then I own everything.

我不會擔心。只要我還能彈鋼琴，我就擁有一切。

Do you believe in an afterlife?

你相信來生嗎？

I pay much more attention to the here and now.

我對當下要關注得多。

If you had to rate your satisfaction with your life so far, out of 10, what would you score?

如果你要對自己迄今爲止的人生的滿意程度打分，滿分爲10分，你會打幾分呢？

I’m always pursuing a 10.

我總在追求10分。
