Two weeks. This comes from an abbreviation of ‘fourteen nights’

You might hear people use this in all sorts of ways, but basically it means ‘very’. So “jolly good” would mean ‘very good’

跟Very一個意思,Jolly good其實就是“Very good”的意思

This is an expression that means to wreck something

I managed to keep the surprise a secret, right up until the day before my sister’s birthday, and then he threw a spanner in the works by telling her!

A short sleep, a nap, a power nap, or a snooze.

40. WIND UP

40.取笑/煩惱

This has a couple of meanings. If something you do is a ‘wind up’ it means you are making fun of someone. However, if you are ‘wind up’ it means you are annoyed

有多種含義。如果你做的事“wind-up”,也就是說你在取笑某人。如果你“wind-up”,說明你很煩。


I was just winding her up for fun, but she took offence to it and got really angry!

我只是爲了好玩才逗她,沒想到她生氣了,真的生氣了!

41. MATE

This means friend, chum, pal, or buddy.

朋友、密友、筆友、夥伴


I’m going to the cinema with my mates tonight.

This is a common saying which means that something is not to your liking.

不喜歡某事或某物


I don’t really like this sort of music. It’s just not my cup of tea.
