our planet is in trouble!almost every day we seem to hear of yet anotherproblem affecting the environment - and what a list of problems!- pollution,acidrain,global warming,the destruction of rainforests and other wild habitats,thedecline and extinction of thousands of species of animals and soon.

nowadays,most of us know that these threats exist and that humans havecaused of us are very worried about the future of our planet andunless we can find a way of solving the problems we have made then theenvironment will suffer even more.

We live in the world every day. We eat food, drink water, wear clothes,watch TV, use computers and so on. We are producing waste every moment.

Generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. They are material waste,organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous & harmful waste. Now, we aregoing to talk about each sort of waste one by one.

Material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from whichsomething else can be made. For example, people throw away the used metalproducts and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. At last, theybecome waste. For example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper willbecome waste. When the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. Nobody wants touse a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of brokenglasses. Once it is broken, it becomes waste. The rate of using plastics isincreasing day by day. People use plastic bags because they are convenient. Whenthey get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to theenvironment. The more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic wasteis produced. This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. Someof our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and thebottom part of our shoes. It’s true that rubber plays an important role in ourlife. However, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a longtime and becomes old. The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down bynature. This is really a big problem.

here, i’d like to share my own experience abroad with you. several yearsago, i was very lucky to have an opportunity to live in the australia about halfa month. during that time, not only did i enjoy the beautiful natural scenerythere, but also i appreciated the people’s active way of protecting theirenvironment. now, whenever the environment protection is mentioned, thebeautiful scenery of australia will arise in my mind, white clouds flying acrossthe blue sky, green grassplot sprinkled with colorful flowers and lovelysquirrels playing happily among the trees.

as a citizen of china, if everyone can actively protect the environment inour daily life and if we would like to reduce our carbon footprint, the sceneryof blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in australia will appear in china,even in hefei.

but i totally support the view, that is to say, emotion without action isirrelevant! do you unplug electronics after you use them? do you switch offeverything before you go to sleep? do you adjust your tv screen a bit dimmer tosave energy? do you re-use water for different activities around the house? eachof these seemingly insignificant adjustments in your daily life can make adifference in saving the environment of tomorrow.

we all know that nothing is more comfortable than sitting in the warmth ofa hearted car while it’s snowing and hailing outside in the freezing cold…butwith global warming and even global cooling becoming more pressing by the day,not to mention your own health, take a walk ,ride a bike ,reduce your carbonfootprint on the environment is said that tiny streams can be combined intoa vast ocean, small trees can be an immense forest, and every little makes amickle.
