until可以用作介詞和連詞，可以翻譯爲到…爲止、在…以前等等。

用法

1、 until用在肯定句，謂語動詞通常是延續性動詞。

2、用在否定句，謂語動詞通常是瞬間性動詞。

3、連詞until引導的從句中謂語動詞的時態。

4、主句的謂語動詞爲一般現在時或一般將來時時。 until從句中的謂語動詞爲現在完成時，用來強調從句謂語動詞表示的動作，發生在主句謂語動詞表示的動作之前。

5、主句中的謂語動詞爲一般過去時時，從句中的謂語動詞爲過去完成時，用來強調從句謂語動詞的動作，發生在主句謂語動詞表示的動作之前。

　until 與till 的區別

(1)在句首時多用until 。例如：

Until then I had known nothing about it.

(2)在from … till … 這一詞組裏，用till比用until普通，但也可用until。例如：

I worked from morning till late at night.

There was a beautiful Mozart concert on the radio from six o′clock until a quarter past seven.

(3)在“good—bye till …”及“up till…”中，till不能用until 替代。例如：

Yes, we can help one another. Good–bye till then.

I’ve lived in the country all my life up till now.
