Katherine: Who?
Amanda: The alumnae; their offspring, the faculty. You name it. Watch out for yourself. Too much independence frightens them.
Nancy: Will you please stop?
Amanda: Oh, a word of advice. Don't let those girls know that they got to you.
Katherine: They didn't.

妙詞佳句，活學活用
1. Collect
這實際上是一個很簡單的詞，希望大家瞭解這個熟悉的詞的比較容易被忽略的一個意思：由對方支付費用的。Collect 本來是一個副詞，但是在口語裏演變爲名詞用法，等於省略的a collect phone call。所以以後當大家自己在電話中聽到了這個詞的時候，要明白這是要你自己付錢的電話哦。
2. Tough
在這個片段裏這個單詞的意思是“艱難;棘手”。但這實在是一個意思很多變的詞，所以想用幾個例子給大家加深一下印象：
She is a tough mother to her only son. 對於唯一的兒子來說，她是個嚴厲的母親。
But she is also a tough customer while shopping. 但是購物的時候，她也是個難伺候的.顧客。
The beef we are eating is tough. 我們吃的牛肉有點嚼不動。
Journalists raised a lot of tough questions in the press conference. 記者招待會上記者們提出了很多尖刻的問題。
3. I'm babbling.
很生動的一個小句子，意思是“我瞎說的;我多嘴了”。Babbling本身就有喋喋不休的意思，也是一個比較常用的表達：
Babbling bothers one's ears. 多言聒耳
Don't be fooled by their babbling. Nothing of the sort. 別聽他們胡說八道，根本沒那回事。
4. You name it.
“凡你想得起的;不管什麼(都有了或都幹了等)”的意思。我們再用兩個例子來加深大家的印象：
1) Fancy chocolates, exotic flowers-you name it, we had it. 精製的巧克力，外國的鮮花。只要你能想到的，我們都享用了。
2) This is the biggest department store in the city-you name it, and they've got it. 這是這座城市裏最大的百貨公司，你要什麼這裏就有什麼。
