Jesus College is displaying contemporary British and Irish sculptors in a free outside exhibition in Cambridge this summer.
Sculptors exhibiting this year include Royal Academy Award winner James Capper, who is just 27 years old. He is appearing alongside previous Turner Prize winners Roger Hiorns and Lucy Skaer, as well as famous sculptors Thomas Houseago and Eva Rothschild.

Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
In 1915,the Russian anthropologist Sergei Shirokogoroff and his wife Elizabeth were invited to the forests of the Amur River to study the indigenous(土著的)Eveki and Orochen peoples. Fourteen years later, Cambridge’s graduate Ethel Lindgren went in search of these “little known tribes”, as they were considered to be “fast dying out”. Together they amassed a considerable collection of 26000 culturally and historically important photographs, the majority of which have never been seen, until now.
From the excitement of recognizing faces, to the beauty of the reindeer, or the heated debates about what is happening in the photographs, this exhibition is about the reconnection of these communities with their images, their histories, and their stories.
The exhibition costs nothing and is open to the public every day from 7July until 27

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the United States has entered a brand new age, because Donald Trump, the country’s 45th president, is very different from any president before him.
Unlike Hilary Clinton, his opponent, and most previous US presidents, who entered the election after years of being politicians,Trump,70,was a New York real estate (房地產) businessman. Interestingly, many who voted for Trump actually followed the “lesser of two evils” principle — one that people use when faced with picking from two unpleasant options — simply because they didn’t think Clinton was a better choice.
“He’s the candidate I disagree less with,” Jack Stucky, 20, a student at Northwestern University, told the Chicago Tribune.“ I don’t think I’d say Trump is going to be the best president ever, but I did think he’d be better than Hilary Clinton.”

Whenever seeing a button, we are eager to press it because we know something will happen. This is true in most cases, for example on a doorbell and on the “on/off” button on the TV. But some buttons are actualy fake, like the “close” button on an elevator.
Many people like pressing the “close” button because they don’t have the patience to wait for the elevator doors to shut. But according to Karen W. Penafiel , executive director of the US’ National Elevator Industry Inc., elevators’ “close” buttons are a complete trap, at least in the US — the doors will not close any faster no matter how hard you press.
In the 1990s, the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed in the US, making sure all elevators stayed open long enough for people with disabilities to enter. Only US firefighters and maintenance workers can use the buttons to speed up the door-closing process if they have a code or special keys.
But to normal elevator riders, the buttons aren’t completely useless. Fake buttons can actually make you feel better by offering you a sense of control.
“Perceived (能夠感知的)control is very important. It reduces stress and increases well-being,” Ellen J.L anger, a psychology professor, told The Times, adding that a lack of control is associated with depression .
Experts have revealed that a lot of buttons that don’t do anything exist in our

“Microbots” smaller than the width of a human hair could be highly effective and cost-efficient tools for removing lead and other pollutants from industrial wastewater, according to a new study published in the journal Nano Letters last month. In the space of a single hour, the study showed the microbots could remove up to 95 percent of lead from water.
Lead is commonly found in wastewater from mines or factories that make batteries and electronic devices, and can cause a serious risk to public health, as the water crisis in Flint, Michigan shows. Industrial activities can also contaminate water with arsenic(砷), mercury (汞)and other metals.
Heavy metal pollution can cost big cities billions of dollars a year, said Samuel Sanchez, co-author of the study and ICREA professor at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia in Spain. He added that current methods of treating the pollution either are expensive or produce secondary waste.
Sanchezs said his team imagined using the microbots “for the pre-treatment of industrial wastewater before dumping into a river”. The microbots have three layers. The outer layer is made of some thing that absorbs heavy metals, while a middle layer makes the microbots ferro-magnetic(鐵磁性的)so that they can be directed by external magnets. An inner layer reacts when hydrogen peroxide(雙氧水)is dded to the wastewater, producing a stream of oxygen micro-bubbles that the microbots eject(噴射)to push themselves in the water. Once the bots finish their clean-up work, external magnets collect them for reuse. The heavy metal pollutants can also be recycled, making the process even more efficient.
“This technique can be helpful, so we imagine that small companies can use microbots to deal with their water in case they can’t afford to bring their waste water to plants that handle polluted water,” Sanchezs said.“In my opinion, we should see first commercial use of self-driven microbots in the next couple of years.”
