外交部就日本有關人士涉臺言論答記者問
Q: It is reported that Saito Masaki, the new chief representative of the Japan Interchange Association Taipei Office claimed in a public speech on May 1 that "Taiwan's status remains unresolved". How do you comment on this?
答：我們對日方有關人士發表嚴重違背《中日聯合聲明》的言論表示強烈不滿，中國政府已向日方提出嚴正交涉。
A: We express strong dissatisfaction over relevant Japanese public figure's remarks that contravene the China-Japan Joint Statement. The Chinese Government has lodged solemn representations to the Japanese side.
日方表示，上述言論不代表日本政府立場。在臺灣歸屬問題上，根據1972年《中日聯合聲明》，日本政府充分理解和尊重中國政府關於“臺灣是中華人民共和國領土不可分割的一部分”的立場。日方這一立場沒有變化，今後也不會改變。
The Japanese side made it clear that the remarks do not represent its official position. When it comes to the status of Taiwan, the Japanese Government fully understands and respects the Chinese Government's position that "Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People's Republic of China". Japan's position has never changed and remains intact.
我想強調，臺灣是中國領土不可分割的一部分，這是國際社會公認的事實。任何企圖製造“臺灣歸屬未定論”的圖謀，都是對中國核心利益的挑釁，都是中國政府和人民絕對不能接受的。
I'd like to stress that it is a universally recognized fact that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. Any attempt to stage the theory of "undecided status" of Taiwan is to challenge China's core interests, which the Chinese Government and people will never accept.
