Product placement is to be allowed on British television programs for the first time, local media reveals Sunday.
在上面的報道中，product placement就是"植入式廣告"，指將產品或品牌及其代表性的視覺符號策略性融入電影、電視劇或電視節目內容之中，通過場景的再現，讓觀衆留下對產品及品牌的印象，達到營銷目的。
Placement在這裏的意思是"放置"，例如：the placement of furniture(傢俱的佈置)。另外，placement還有"(人員的)安插，工作安排"的意思，例如：a placement office(安置辦公室);a social agency that does the work of child placement(從事兒童安置工作的社會機構)。Placement還可以表示"(學生的)編班"，placement test指"(學生入學時的)編班測試"。
"植入式廣告"屬於隱性廣告(recessive advertisement)，也是軟廣告(blind advertising)的重要分支之一。生活中除了我們常見的電視廣告(television advertisement)，還有網絡廣告(online advertisement)，報紙上還有分類廣告。

隨着經濟不斷緊縮，越來越多在中國居住的外籍人士把在家教育作爲應對學費持續上漲的辦法。
在上面的報道中，home schooling就是"在家教育"，是指父母讓孩子不去學校，在家接受教育的教學方式。相對home schooling來說，在學校接受教育就是formal schooling，一般在學校上學就屬於"常規教育"(regular schooling)。現在中國實行的是"義務教育"，目標是爲了實現普及教育(universal schooling)。一般在義務教育階段採取的都是"全日制教育"(full-time schooling)，義務教育階段包括小學教育(elementary schooling)和中學教育(secondary schooling)。Schooling在這裏的意思是"教育"，說一個人文化水平較低，沒讀過幾年書，我們可以說a man with less schooling。
Schooling除了有"教育"的意思，還有"學費，學校膳宿費"的意思。

該文件在薪資結構和支付、職務消費以及薪資的監督和管理上制定了指導方針，目的是爲了建立健全規範國有企業高管薪酬的激勵和約束機制。
在上面的報道中，position-related consumption就是"職務消費"。職務消費是指爲保證領導幹部正當生活和履行職責、完成工作任務，由政府和領導幹部所在機關(單位)按照規定，爲其提供和報銷的費用。一段時間內很盛行的recreational activities with public funds(公款吃喝)現象其實就是職務消費被濫用的結果。
Consumption除了表示"消費"外，還可以指"消耗"的意思，例如：the consumption of men in a war(戰爭中兵力的消耗)。Consumption也有"揮霍"的意思，例如：be reproached for one's indiscriminate consumption of a fortune。Consumption還有"吃，喝"的意思，例如：take along food for one's consumption on a trip(帶上旅途中吃的食物)。
從職務消費我們可以聯想到一些官場和職場中的不良現象，如濫用職權(abuse of power)，瀆職(dereliction of duty)，徇私舞弊，玩忽職守(neglect of duty)等。
