　　一、表示比較，意爲“象……一樣，正如，如同”

She’s very tall, as is her mother. 她個子很高，和她母親一樣。

　　二、表示方式、程度、情況。意即“照……方式、如同、象”

They did as I had asked. 他們是按照我的要求做的。

　　三、表示時間，意爲“當……時候”，“一邊……一邊”“隨着……”

As he grow older he gained in confidence. 隨着年齡的增長他的信心增強了。

　　四、表示原因，意爲“因爲，由於”

As you were out, I left a message. 你不在，所以我留下了一張字條。

　　五、表示讓步，意爲“儘管;雖然;即使”(表語一般放在本從句之首;如有可數名詞單數，前面也不要冠詞)

　　六、引導定語從句

1)as引導非限制性定語從句，常指主句所表達的整個事情，可置句首、句中、句末，常見 as we all know,as I see it 照我看來，as it appears to me 依我看來。

As we all know, oceans cover more than 70 percent of the earth.

正如我們所知道的，海洋佔地球面積70%以上。

2)as引導限制性定語從句

From every corner of the island little people came to see the "Man Mountain~as they called Gulliver. 小人們從海島的各個角落來看他們叫做‘人山’的格利佛。

3)as與 such, so, the same 連用，此時先行詞是一個具體的名詞，as在從句中可作主語、賓語或表語。

The book is written in such easy English as beginners can understand. 這本書是用初學者也能讀懂的淺易英文寫的。

She studies in the same department as I do. 他和我在同一個系統學習。
