In most of my holidays I go to visit my family members in my hometown. For my job, I am currently residing in the capital city of my country but my parents, siblings, grandparents, uncle and aunts are living in our hometown. So in most of my holidays I go to visit my family members. My typical holidays last for 4-5 days most of the time and sometimes I get longer holidays.
When I was a university student, I had some friends studying in the same faculty who were from my hometown. During my university study we used to go to our hometown together on our vacations but now-a-days I go to my hometown mostly alone. The journey takes about 6-7 hours by bus. Sometimes we travel by train and this train journeys usually take 8-9 hours including the stoppage. Though the journey is tiresome sometimes, but the thought of meeting my family members and the excitement of being in the place I really love wash away the tiresomeness and monotonous feeling of the journey.
The time I stay with my family members and local friends, I enjoy the moments very much. This is the town where I grew up and naturally all of my childhood & adolescence memories are related to this place. I do lots of interesting things there during my holidays: I swim in the river, take care of the garden and firm we have, collect vegetables and fruits from our garden and then make arrangement to sell those to the local sellers, sometime I catch fished, play with my friends both indoor and outdoor games, visit different places and do lots of other stuffs.
In my city life, I have to follow a strict timeline and stay at office most of the time, but in my hometown where I mostly go during my holidays, I am quite free and do whatever I feel like doing and spend time with the people I care most. That's why I prefer to go to my hometown during my holidays rather than going to other places.
Tips for answering this cue card topic:
Since you are free to talk about multiple activities that you usually do in your holidays, you can talk about many of them and this makes this cue card an easy one. You don't have to talk about a single activity that you mostly do in your holidays unless you really confident that you would be able to give a lot of details of this single activity.
Take some notes on the activities you do in your holidays and then start talking about these activities. They can be both the indoor and outdoor activities as the topic has not specified any of them.
Though the holidays are specifically the days set aside by custom or law on which people keep away the formal daily office or business works and celebrates an event or tradition of religious or cultural significance, you are not bound to describe a major festivals as your holidays. In some parts of the world holidays are treated as vacations and you can talk about your vacations as well. If you want you can also describe your activities on major festivals or religiously significant days.
Some of the common things people do on their holidays:
They put aside the office or business tasks and spend time with family members and friends.
They cook and prepare some special dishes at home or go to outside to visit famous places.
They go to their hometown and spend towns there.
They do some shopping as part of the holidays.
Some people go to visit other places or cities during their holidays.
They maintain the social relations and visit neighbors and relatives on their holidays.
People obey the religious rituals and rules if this is a religious holiday.

If I had a day off I would most probably do some gardening. I had been meaning to do this for a while. We moved to our new home about three months ago after I got a job in the city. Although we have enough space to create a garden, I haven’t been able to plant more than a couple of saplings. The last few weeks were pretty hectic and I found myself working even on Sundays. I am in the probationary period right now, so I really need to focus on my work.

Now I don’t get time for anything let alone gardening. I will get my sister’s help for this. She also enjoys this sort of things, but she lacks the initiative. I know she will be more than happy to lend me a helping hand if I start working in the garden but she is unlikely to do it on her own.

I always have a dream to visit Alaska in Winter to see the Polar light once. Alaska, where is famous
for natural scenery, is the largest state in United States by area. It is situated in the northwest extremity of North America. The temperature there mostly remains below zero degree Celsius, which leads to the fact that the majority parts of state are usually covered by snow. I wish I can travel to Alaska during the future Winter break even though it would be the coldest period in a year, because to see a real aurora will be one of the best moments in my life.
In order to accomplish this trip, it is necessary to have enough preparations, especially for self-protection, like preparing enough clothes to stay warm and learning self-salvation when accidents happened. Every time I saw aurora was either pictures in magazines or geographic channels on TV, I long for seeing and standing in front of polar light once for telling myself "oh my god, I see it for real". It is something that human cannot create and normal people cannot see often. It is magic that nature performs. On the other hand, Alaska is a perfect place to enjoy the winter, the snow, the mountains, the forest, and everything together become the wonderful landscapes.

In my leisure time, I always have a fantasy about a perfect holiday I will have in the future. My perfect holiday doesn’t mean that it will be extravagant or intricate. The simple and relaxing travel is the style I want to have for my holiday.
In my perfect holiday, the destination of this travel is somewhere near the sea but not the famous scenic spots. The famous scenic spots are always full of visitors, noisy and annoying. I want to go to some places quiet and peaceful, which allows me to admire the miracle of the nature. I don’t have a boyfriend yet, but I would like to come to this place with my lover in the next five or ten years. I think traveling with the one I love will add some unexpected fun to the holiday. The hotel I’m going to stay in must face the ocean, with the view of whole sea through the window.
The plan of this travel is also simple. In the morning, we will stay in bed, seeing the sun rise from the sea level. Then we are going to get out for some fresh air, lying on the beach or swimming in the sea at will. When the sunset comes, walking along the sea is a pretty good choice, where we can talk to each other about the hope of our future. At night, we might drink a little wine in the hotel, watching some soap operas or finishing some work, cozy and pleased.
Maybe this kind of vacation is not appealing in some people’s eyes, but this calmness and peace is the most important thing for me in the vacation. In my view, the purpose of vacation is to help you get out of the busy ordinary life. The places shat I mentioned above can help me refresh myself and forget the pressure and business temporary. I look forward to this vacation in the future.
