Nomura is to rein in its global investment banking operations after regulators pressured the bank to purge top management in the wake of a damaging insider trading scandal.

He said Nomura would continue to pursue its objective of becoming a global bank, with a strong focus on Asia. But he said he aimed to remake Nomura's global franchise into an appropriate size.
